Hi, I’m Giorgia – CoreWork trainer – and today I want to share with you a special experience that brings together Pilates, wellness, and the joy of being outdoors!
On the first weekend of September 2025, I’ll have the pleasure of leading a Pilates retreat in Palma de Mallorca: three days of well-being with daily workouts, breathtaking nature, and healthy living alongside the CoreWork community.
In this article, I’ll tell you everything about the retreat – from why practicing Pilates outdoors is so powerful to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle – and how CoreWork promotes a balanced way of living through events like this.
Grab your mat, let’s go!
What is the Pilates & Yoga Retreat in Palma de Mallorca?

Our retreat will take place from September 5 to 7, 2025, in Palma de Mallorca, the stunning capital of the Balearic Islands. It will be three days to rediscover balance, breath, and connection – as we say at CoreWork – immersed in the island’s natural beauty.
Every day, we’ll practice outdoor Pilates, taking advantage of the Mediterranean climate and breathtaking views. I’ll personally lead the Pilates sessions (and I can’t wait!).
The location hosting us is a beautiful Mallorcan finca – a traditional countryside estate surrounded by greenery: a peaceful oasis nestled in the heart of the island.
Picture this: waking up among olive and almond trees, practicing Pilates in the morning breeze, and relaxing by the pool at sunset. The finca will be our home for the weekend, with both indoor and outdoor spaces for movement, rest, and connection.
(Fun fact: in Spanish, finca refers to a rural estate or country house.)
Limited spots available: this is an intimate experience, open to a small group of participants so we can create a warm, familiar atmosphere and offer individual attention.
Our goal is to build a fit community that shares CoreWork’s values: a passion for movement, health, and mutual support.
CoreWork isn’t just a place to work out in Milan – it’s a healthy lifestyle we bring beyond the studio through unique events and experiences like this retreat. 💚
Why Practice Pilates Outdoors

If you’ve only ever worked out in a gym or studio, trying Pilates outdoors will feel like a small revolution.
Why take your mat outside—maybe on a grassy spot with a sea view?
Here’s why I love practicing Pilates en plein air and why we’ll be doing it during the retreat:
Connection with Nature
Exercising outdoors gives you an immediate sense of freedom and well-being. The green of the trees, the blue sky, and the sound of the sea in the background have a calming effect on the nervous system. Nature becomes our open-air gym and helps us truly disconnect from the daily routine.
More Oxygen, More Energy
Training outside means breathing fresh air and better oxygenating your body. Outdoor movement, in fact, “oxygenates you, helps burn more calories, and gives you a boost of vitamin D.” Not bad, right?
Sunlight (at the right times and with sunscreen!) provides vitamin D, which is essential for bone health and the immune system. Plus, the outdoor environment stimulates slightly more energy expenditure than indoor settings, helping us burn more calories naturally.
Less Stress, More Focus
Pilates in a studio is effective, but practicing it outdoors adds an extra layer of stress relief.
Many studies confirm that being surrounded by nature lowers cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and boosts your mood.
Personally, when I do Pilates outside, I instantly feel more relaxed and more present in the here and now. The birds chirping or the sound of waves become the soundtrack to our session, making it easier to let go of tension and focus on movement and breath.
In short, outdoor Pilates combines all the benefits of the practice with those of training in nature – it’s a total boost for body and mind.
And what better time to try it than during a retreat in Palma? 😉
The Benefits of Training Outdoors
We’ve already touched on a few benefits, but let’s take a closer look. Training outdoors – whether it’s Pilates or any type of physical activity – offers specific advantages for our mental and physical well-being:
Mood and Mental Health
Exposure to natural light boosts the production of serotonin, the “feel-good” hormone. A workout in the park or on the beach can reduce anxiety and symptoms of depression more effectively than an indoor session, thanks to the powerful combo of movement + nature.
In short, after an outdoor session, we feel happier and more at peace.
Vitamin D and Immune System
As mentioned earlier, exercising in the sun (in moderation) helps the body produce vitamin D, essential for strong bones and a healthy immune system.
Fresh air and sunshine can also improve circulation and help regulate your sleep-wake cycle. (Ever experienced that satisfying “good tired” feeling after a day spent outdoors?).
Improved Performance
Wide open spaces and natural ground challenge the body in new ways.
Running or moving on uneven surfaces activates stabilizing muscles and improves balance. Similarly, doing Pilates on the grass engages your core even more to stay stable.
Plus, training in mild temperatures with a light breeze supports thermoregulation and can boost endurance (think of a sunset yoga class with the sea breeze – pure bliss!).
Motivation and Variety
Let’s be honest: working out outdoors is more fun! 😄
The variety of scenery and sensory input keeps motivation high.
During the retreat, we’ll never get bored: one day we might practice Pilates on a terrace overlooking the sea, the next day we’ll do yoga in the garden under the trees.
Changing environments reduces monotony and makes every workout feel special.
Tip: Even if you’re not in Mallorca every day, bring a bit of the outdoors into your routine. Try doing some stretching at the park near your home, or go for a jog at sunset.
Your body and mind will thank you!
Mind-Body Connection Through Outdoor Pilates
One of the things I love most about Pilates is its ability to create a deep mind-body connection.
Joseph Pilates – the creator of the method – believed that the goal of his practice was to make people more aware of themselves, their bodies, and their minds, in order to unite them into one dynamic entity.
In other words, Pilates was designed to help us coordinate body and mind through focus, controlled movement, and conscious breathing.
By bringing Pilates into our retreat, we truly aim to cultivate this holistic union of body and mind.
Pilates strengthens the core, improves posture and balance, and requires mental presence in every exercise (think about those slow, controlled Reformer series where you focus deeply on the muscles at work).
We’ll also focus on flexibility, meditation, and breath awareness, helping you tune in to your body’s sensations and calm the mind.
Outdoors, these effects are even stronger – nature naturally grounds us in the present moment.
Just imagine a morning Pilates session in the garden: as you inhale clean air and stretch your arms toward the brightening sky, you’ll feel a deep sense of connection with the environment – and with yourself.
Doing mindful movement in nature is a form of moving meditation: every rustling leaf, every sunbeam becomes part of the experience.
Many retreat participants say they feel “renewed” and mentally lighter after just a few days of practicing in nature.
My goal is for you to return to Milan not only stronger and more energized – but with a calm, clear mind filled with positive energy.🍋
Eating Healthy to Feel Good

A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about movement – nutrition matters just as much. To truly feel good, we need to nourish our bodies with the right nutrients. During the retreat, we’ll give a lot of attention to this aspect too: you’ll enjoy delicious, healthy meals made with local ingredients from Mallorca, giving you steady energy throughout the day without feeling heavy or sluggish.
Why do I focus so much on food? Because we are what we eat!
A balanced diet is linked to lower risk of illness and a higher quality of life. It also helps us feel stronger physically and sharper mentally.
When we eat well, we have more energy for workouts and recover faster from fatigue. On the other hand, highly processed foods rich in sugars or saturated fats can make us feel tired and lower our performance, not to mention increase health risks in the long run.
Curious to learn more? Check out how Chiara Nutrition explores this in the article “the Sweet Menace”, where she explains how sugar and sweeteners can affect our overall well-being.
At the retreat, you’ll enjoy fresh and balanced meals throughout the day:
– Breakfasts with fruit, yogurt, and whole grains
– Light lunches with seasonal veggies, fresh salads, and lean proteins
– Mediterranean-inspired dinners, featuring grilled vegetables, fresh fish, hummus, and whole grain bread.
We’ll also have healthy snacks like dried fruits, smoothies, and protein shakes after workouts.
The idea is to show you that eating healthy doesn’t mean sacrificing taste – quite the opposite! You’ll discover authentic flavors and maybe even a few new recipes to bring home. 🥗
A balanced diet, combined with daily movement, will leave you feeling revitalized by the end of the retreat.
Many participants love the mealtime moments – it’s a chance to share tips, recipes, and support each other in building good habits that last beyond the retreat.
After all, eating well is a form of self-care, just like exercise and rest.
(Small bonus: the food in Mallorca is amazing! We’ll make the most of the island’s local specialties – olive oil, almonds, citrus fruits, fresh fish – all wholesome staples of the Mediterranean diet.) 🍋
The Importance of Spending Time Outdoors for Mental and Physical Well-being
To wrap up, I want to highlight a message that is truly essential to us at CoreWork: spending time outdoors is incredibly beneficial for our mental and physical well-being.
We’re used to fast-paced lives, often stuck indoors in offices or at home – but carving out time outside, every day, can make a huge difference for our long-term health.
Being in the open air, especially in green environments, helps lower blood pressure and stress, boosts creativity and focus, and even strengthens the immune system. It’s no surprise that practices like forest bathing (literally “bathing in the forest”) exist to tap into nature’s therapeutic power.
A walk in the park, some sun in the garden, or a workout outside – these are all simple yet powerful natural remedies we can access for free.
During our retreat, this concept will be at the heart of everything we do.
Whether it’s during a Pilates session or a quiet moment of rest, I’ll encourage everyone to fully embrace the outdoor environment: take a stroll through the finca, listen to the sounds of nature, or even meditate under a tree.
The goal is to return home not just with stronger or more flexible muscles, but with a lighter mind and a spirit recharged by time spent outdoors. 🌞
And remember: once you’re back in Milan, try to keep a little of that outdoor “magic” in your daily routine.
Even in the city, you can find a green corner or a sunlit balcony to recharge – every single day.
CoreWork: More Than Just Pilates – A Healthy Lifestyle
By organizing this retreat, CoreWork once again shows that we’re not “just about Pilates” – we embrace a 360-degree approach to wellness.
In our reformer Pilates studios in Milan, we work on the body, but events like this allow us to go further: we create healthy life experiences and build community, even beyond the city.
As a CoreWork trainer, I’m proud to be part of a team that promotes values like health, personal growth, and mutual support.
In the past, we’ve hosted nutrition workshops and fitness events – and now, this is our very first (of many, hopefully!) retreat out of town.
We want the people who train with us to embrace an active and mindful lifestyle, while having fun and feeling connected.
The CoreWork community is made up of people who lift each other up – from that reformer classmate cheering you on during the last rep, to chatting with your trainer after class for stretching tips.
At the retreat, this community will grow even stronger: spending three days together, sharing both effort and laughter, will create lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
Our dream is for every participant to return home feeling like they’re part of an even bigger CoreWork family.
A healthy lifestyle means balance: movement, nutrition, but also rest, connection, and joy.
In Palma de Mallorca, there’ll be time for all of this.
We’ll have intense training moments, but also pure fun – maybe a swim in the sea during your free afternoon, or a sunset walk together through a nearby village.
Living with balance means learning to alternate activity and rest, discipline and pleasure – and that’s exactly what we’ll do.
